Can ADAS Calibration Be Performed at Your Home or Office?

Yes, Sierra Mobile Glass can perform both static and dynamic ADAS calibration as part of a mobile visit. Our technicians bring the portable equipment needed to complete either type of calibration at your home or office, so a static calibration doesn't automatically mean a trip to one of our shops. That's the whole point of mobile service in the first place: getting your windshield replaced and your safety systems calibrated correctly without rearranging your day around a shop appointment.

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration Explained

ADAS calibration comes in two types: static and dynamic, and each works differently. Static calibration uses specialized target boards placed at precise, manufacturer-specified distances and angles from the vehicle, along with level ground and controlled lighting so the camera can read the targets accurately. Sierra Mobile Glass's technicians bring portable target equipment and set up that same precise environment at your location, whether that's a driveway, garage, or parking area with enough space and consistent lighting.

Dynamic calibration works differently: the vehicle's camera relearns its surroundings while the vehicle is driven within a specified speed range on roads with clear lane markings. Since that process depends on real road conditions rather than fixed equipment, it's always been a natural fit for mobile service, and a technician can complete it on public roads near your home or office just as effectively as near a shop.

Does Your Vehicle Need Both Types of Calibration?

Many vehicles actually need both static and dynamic calibration after a windshield replacement, depending on the make, model, and ADAS features involved. Sierra Mobile Glass's I-CAR Platinum-certified technicians determine exactly which calibration your vehicle needs before the appointment and bring the right equipment to complete both, static and dynamic, in the same mobile visit.

Why Certification Matters for Mobile ADAS Calibration

Calibration accuracy isn't something to guess at, whether it's happening in a shop bay or in your driveway. Sierra Mobile Glass's technicians are I-CAR Platinum certified, the highest tier of ADAS calibration training available, and our shop is also AGSC certified and listed in the AGSC Safe Windshields Directory. We follow the same manufacturer-specified procedures for both static and dynamic calibration wherever the appointment takes place, so accuracy doesn't depend on whether you're in one of our shops or parked in your own driveway.

Are There Any Exceptions to Mobile Calibration?

In most cases, mobile calibration works for the vast majority of vehicles and appointment locations. What it actually needs is enough flat, level space around the vehicle for target placement and consistent lighting that won't wash out the camera's view—conditions a typical driveway, garage, or parking area usually provides without any issue. The rare exception is a site that genuinely can't offer that, like a cramped street parking spot with heavy shade or traffic passing close to the vehicle. If that's the case, our team will let you know ahead of time whether a shop visit makes more sense for that specific appointment, rather than attempting a calibration that conditions won't support.
